Seems like everything is coming up Birds for the past week. Nature and birds are one of our favorite themes for stamping and making. New bird rubber stamps and stencils always get our creative juices flowing in overdrive. Really. It's pretty rare for us to know what we are going to make before we start making. All of the stamps and stencils are lined up in the middle of the table along with ink pads and just about anything else you can imagine. Our studio has a large table - 4' x 10' and we sit across from each other. It all starts out totally organized. It never ever ends up that way. Usually we set up the card table for overflow after a few hours. We begin to make. Coloring papers and tags, stamping images, digging around in old books, getting side tracked with talk, drinking coffee, planning the emails, a regular day of doing and making. After a few hours we have bits and pieces. Then we begin to - as Chris says - arrange and layer. At that point we decide about the finished art. Is it going to be a tag, card, collage, jewelry or a combo of all. Sometimes we actually finish something, but not usually. At this point we discuss what the finished art will be, gather up everything and head home for dinner and a late night of finishing. What about you? Do you plan out your art? Do you finish at one sitting? Do you like to work alone or with a friend? Music? Daytime? Late night?
Here are the bits and pieces we used for the Bird Song Bauble.
One of our newest obsessions are those little metal bails and clear adhesive epoxy stickers. Everything that is old is new again - Love the jumbo jump rings too! Have a great weekend and try to find a little "me" time for creating. xo Chris & Sharon
