Sat. was the best day possible for Art @ Red Lead. Bright, sunny, cool, crisp. Perfect for strolling around Webster, taking in the sights and sounds, unhurried. Thanks to all of our local artists for coming to Red Lead, and sharing their time and art with everyone. -be true- Chris & Sharon
I caught Chris in the studio completely absorbed with taking pictures of some of the tags from our art sisters for the Tis the Halloween Hour black tag swap. Little did she know I was sneaking a picture of her taking a picture. When I went to upload this photo, I about jumped out of my skirt when I saw we were not alone! You never know what is lurking about, so always be on your best behavior!
A while back Chris got bit by the Shrink Art bug, and was making charms like crazy. I don't remember if I showed you this one before, but it is one of my favorites. You still have time to make some fun pins just like this one!
Chris painted white gesso on the shrink plastic, then she stamped our halloween stamps with Jet Black Staz On ink, baked according to the instruction sheet included with the shrink plastic, and attached to the pin with jump rings. What's not to love?
All of the Halloween makings are at the store and on our website.
This time of the year is my favorite. There is nothing better than throwing on a pair of soft sweat pants and my old favorite - a cashmere cardigan that is always missing a button and has a tiny moth hole in the sleeve. Leash up the dogs and head out the door just at daylight for a brisk early morning walk. The quiet of the morning is a good time for me to think about new projects, color schemes, display ideas for the store, my next road trip with Chris, and to not lose sight of what really matters. Anytime I am drawing a blank and looking for inspiration, it is always as close as my back door. No matter the season, the beauty of nature always inspires me.
On another note, several of you asked me to post a photo of the Hocus Pocus Altered Book Workshop, here it is.
Does it get any better than this? Honest to Becky - if this doesn't make you want to make art - nothing will!
As always, we have a lot of new everything at the store and in the online shop. Believe it or not yesterday Chris and I spent some time planning out new workshops, art swaps, and design ideas for new rubber stamps for 2012. - be true -

One of our favorite things to do! -stay true- Chris & Sharon
All last week was about running up and down the 2 flights of stairs between the store and the basement. Box after box of Christmas stamps, embellishments, papers, and such that had been collecting all summer were unboxed, priced, and displayed. Of course there is always the overlap between Halloween and Christmas that drives me crazy. I just don't think big black scary spiders and velvety soft reindeer make a good team.
We did get 44 colors of the Wool Felt in the racks and most of it is on the website too. We are itching to make some art with paper and felt, but today we are going to the store to deck out the studio for Christmas. We are still not sure what the end result will be because it is kind of like rearranging the living room funiture. You move the couch to a different spot, take a look, decide you don't like it and move it again. That is pretty much the way we do the studio. Sometimes it takes a few hours, but usually it's a day long project.
Here is the most important news of the day though. Yesterday was the Clear Transfers Worshop. Everyone painted and transferred the morning away and 2 Red Lead Art Sisters from Michigan drove all the way to St. Louis just to take our workshop. They were kind, funny, talented, and made us feel like Art Stars! It just doesn't get any better than that! -be true- Chris and Sharon
You all know how much we love charms, ribbons, rubber stamps, arts, crafts, any and all things creative. We have been talking about adding wool felt and fabric to our mix for about a year. This was the week that it happened in the store and online. So if you are a Crafty Artist check the felt out right here, plus some darling felt button shapes flew in too! The felt buttons are here.
More than 175 new Christmas Scrap Book Paper is at the store - your favorite designers - Prima, Bo Bunny, Kaisercraft, Basic Grey, Graphic 45, Crate Paper, plus more! Christmas 6" x 6" paper pads are here.

We love transfers, especially on clear acrylic! Everyone is fascinated by the transfer process. Making something move from one place to another is a pretty cool trick by anyone's standards. These clear transfers allow you to explore your creativity with papers, favorite photos, paints, and rubber stamps.
