Hello Monday Readers, We are spending the beginning of this week working in the store and making kits for the Artology Workshops in Collinsville at the Doubletree Hotel.

               

We ran over to Collinsville...about a 20 minute drive from South County Shopping Center, and about 15 minutes from downtown St. Louis.  The hotel has been 100% renovated and is very up to the minute...love the idea that we are one of the first to workshop there!  If you weren't able to make the Artology Workshops this year, we are already working on the workshops for 2010 and hope to have the art complete by mid summer.  Don't forget to join our yahoo group to get in on our art swaps...the new art swap will be announced this week on April 1st, the Spring Tag Swap had 44 artist's, should be one heck of a cool tag book!  As always, a huge shout out to all of you for shopping with us at the store and on our website.  You are what makes us ask the question, "What can we make today?"  What will YOU make today? Hello beautiful Monday!  Hey there readers...hope your weekend was the best ever.   This is what we made at the Sat. workshop..Bird Book..spent a little bit of time deciding what to keep and what to sell on the fixture front  {old painted up tables. chests. files..we love them all}  Slowly but surely decisions are being made.  New altered art workshops are on the May schedule.  Look here too! Thanks to everyone for shopping at the store and on our website...no way could we do it without you!  xo  Chris & Sharon

Butterflies Flew In!

       

Hello to all of you out there that are stopping by everyday...a few tidbits about what's going on at Red Lead...happy spring is flying in every day...new papers. charms. ribbons. We are in the spring cleaning mode as the store has accumulated a lot of clutter in the past 11 years...swiffer or viva paper towels?  About 15 years ago we bought the contents of the Dick Blick store in downtown St. Louis-the old Bader's Art Store-remember it?  A couple of guys had been working there forever and stuffing drawers full of stuff for a couple of decades...no kidding!  Anyway we took a look around the store and decided things were headed in what we call the "that bader's thang"  so in between talking. drinking coffee, making kits, filling orders, helping you with your projects, we are deciding what we love the most as we are going to sell some of our beloved fixtures in the coming months.  My guess is this is going to be the conversation, " Do we really need this and what useful purpose does it serve?"  No and none, but we love it so!  Then we move on to the next dresser, bookcase, flat file, table, until we are at the back of the store and nothing has been decided!  More to come.

Hello Hurry Up Almost Spring...Yesterday was all hustle and bustle, lost an hour so we worked and played extra fast.  Qued up the pit, made some fab pasta salad-all fresh-bought a sampler cheesecake and had a teenry bite of each...they were all favorites!  Back to the art stuff...The Altered Embossed Metal Workshop was Sat. and most everyone brought their Paris photos and created up a metal book storm.  Shared some stories too!  {fyi-Chris did her fair share of traipsing around Paris in her youth-ask her about it!}  Embossed and painted pure copper  to look like this!  As always every  book was artfully unique and reflected the personality of the artist.  A shout out to Taylor and Cindy for the Trader Joe's buffet...delicious!  Not sure who brought the desserts, but sampled some of each...THANKS for workshopping with us, we could not  do it wthout you!  xo...Chris and Sharon
