We. Make. Art. @Red Lead

Why do we make? Because we must.  Most everyday finds us at the store..our home away from home..crazy as it might seem to others our work and our life are one and the same.  Red Lead is a true expression of who we are. what we do. every day.  All of you were our inspiration at yesterday's workshop!

Crackled. Distressed. Stenciled.ART-OlogY Workshops

      

A canvas we crackled. distressed. stenciled. at the Art-Ology workshop on Saturday.  If you have been in the store you know that we can't resist vintage furniture for our  fixtures and are always on the prowl for stuff that has seen a lot of life!   We have been eyeing a chest we hauled in a few weeks ago as a perfect candidate to crackle and distress.  Now the hard part...what base color?  what crackle color? what distress color?  The canvas was painted with antique white acrylic paint as a base coat. given a quick coat of 1.2.3. Crackle Painting Medium. crackled with faded jeans crackle paint.  distressed with cranberry and pesto reinkers. stenciled with antique white acrylic paint.  Love the look.

Yesterday it was all about learning new techniques. rethinking old techniques. combining new and old. layering color. making decisions. stepping back. assessing your work. what you like. what you would have done differently. what you learned. how you taught....loved the fact that each and every canvas was your very own...Art-OlogY 2  Workshop is full but there is still plenty of room for you in the Art-OlogY 3 workshop...sign up at the store...or on the website...hope you all learned a lot and had a great time! xo Chris and Sharon

We have been as busy as bees making workshop kits for this weekend...Valentine Mini Book and Art-Ology 1 are filled to the brim...Chris and I struck gold on our mini roadtrip Sunday...brought in some vintage books in near perfect condition...altered book workshop anyone?  Love to do these altered books because each and every page is a complete piece of art..LUV that!  xo Chris and Sharon

Yesterday and today we made Treasure Hunt Jewelry at the store...we were really surprised that so many of you wanted to make collage jewelry...Chris has been working on her wire wrapping techniques and guess what?  Treasure Hunt Jewelry 2 is in the making...Thinking about taking a mini road trip tomorrow for some more good junque to add to our ever growing collection of beads. baubles. trinkets...To Junque or to Make?

1.2.3. Crackled!Free Demo @ Red Lead!

A full house @ Red Lead yesterday for the Free Demo on Crackle Paint...couldn't wait until we painted with all 24 colors...really can't commit to what our favorites are as they are all fab!  Our new 1.2.3.
